A cough can develop for multiple reasons. Depending on the immune system of the person and how the body reacts to certain substances, one might see the symptoms of an allergic cough at different times of the year for different reasons. It is mostly the respiratory systems, which is irritated due to certain substances around us. A cough is the body’s way of expelling or removing the substance that causes the irritation. Further, sometimes the person seems a bout of coughing during a certain period or season, indicating a seasonal cough and may be an increase in the presence of the substance that causes the allergic reaction.

Certain individuals who have been long-time smokers tend to see loads of a cough, which is an attempt by the body to expel the fluids or the substances that have been brought by the smoke.
